Young indigenous families supported by chum capital
The Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug is the only part of the Russian Federation where support is provided to young indigenous families for the construction of shelters.

To date, 268 young families have benefited, said the region’s governor, Dmitry Artyukhov. He stressed that thanks to this measure, hundreds of families with a nomadic lifestyle have received support and can continue their traditional way of life.
The capital of the shelter is 500,000 roubles, or €5,000, which will allow the purchase of everything needed for a nomadic lifestyle: skins and other covers for the shelter, tables, bark and stoves. The grant will be given to local indigenous families of Nenets, Khanty and others with three or more children.
