Two applications for Finno-Ugric Capital of Culture 2027

The Secretariat of the Finno-Ugric Capitals of Culture has announced that it has received two eligible applications for the title of Finno-Ugric Capital of Culture 2027: the village of Geresdlak in Baranya County, Hungary, and the Kreevinimaa region in Latvia (Jaunsaule-Vecsaule and Bauska).

An independent five-member international jury has begun its deliberations, and the name of the 2027 Finno-Ugric Capital of Culture will be announced on 20 June 2026, in the 2026 Finno-Ugric Capital of Culture, Hancock (Michigan, USA) around Midsummer’s Day, during the celebration of the summer solstice.
