Linguist Evgeny Tsypanov published a Komi-language book

In recent years, there have been reports from the Russian Federation that there is no longer any funding available to support publications in national languages (cf. the Fenno-Ugria report). It is possible that this is precisely why the renowned Komi linguist Yevgeny Tsypanov decided to publish, at his own expense, Mikhail Zoshchenko’s book Funny Stories (Komi: Teshkodj vistjas), which he also translated himself. The book contains 23 stories written around a hundred years ago.

It has been said of Zoshchenko, a classic of Soviet Russian literature, that he writes with a sense of humour directed against stupidity, cruelty and other human vices. The print run of the book is unknown, though it is noted that it is very small.
