Kindred Peoples’ Day 2026 programme by Fenno-Ugria published

This year’s Kindred Peoples’ Days events will take place in Rakvere, Tartu, Narva and Tallinn. The colour scheme of the visual design created by Eva Sepping emphasises the Finnish bridge, which is becoming increasingly central to Finno-Ugric cooperation, and also contains references to this year’s Finno-Ugric Capital of Culture, Hancock in the USA.

Traditionally, the folk music concerts focus primarily on the music of Finno-Ugric peoples. This time, the concerts in Rakvere and Tartu will feature local Komi, Mari, Udmurt and Erzya communities, as well as the Seto and guests from Hungary and Finland.

The Kindred Peoples’ Days conference, which focuses on the Finnic languages and cultures, will take place in Narva. A more contemporary Finno-Ugric vibe will be on display at club nights in Tartu and Tallinn, where the headliners this time are Marko Haavisto and Poutahaukat – familiar from Aki Kaurismäki’s films – with local indie legend Allan Vainola warming up the crowd with his project Unenäopüüdjad.

The Tribal Days will conclude in Tallinn with Cellomania, an international ensemble of Finnish origin, whose programme features classical pieces and melodies of the Finno-Ugric peoples arranged for two cellos.
