Fenno-Ugria yearbook 2024 published

Fenno-Ugria’s latest, more comprehensive yearbook “Soome-ugri sõlmed 2024” focuses on Karelia. There are views on the Karelian culture from both the Russian and the Finnish Karelian sides. In addition, there are articles on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of Kaljo Põllu’s birth, in memory of Arvo Valton, as well as a fascinating pictorial treatment of the history of the town of Vyborg and stories about the fate of the Ingrian people. The Yearbook includes a review by Jaak Prozes of the Finno-Ugric congresses in Russia in 2024.

Among the authors this time are art scholars Kersti Koll, Andri Ksenofontov, geographer Enn Ernits, young Fennougricists Orsólya Sild and Anti Lillak, Fenno-Ugria staff members, journalist Janno Zõbin and linguist Patrick O’Rourke. The editor-in-chief of the Yearbook is Taisto Raudalainen. The language editor is Kristi Kingo, the editorial cover is by Eva Sepping and the layout is by Siiri Timmerman. The publication of the Yearbook is supported by the Kindred Peoples’ Programme, the Cultural Endowment of Estonia and the Ministry of Culture of Estonia.

The book was presented and available for purchase on Wednesday 11 June at 18.00 at the Fenno-Ugria office in Tallinn after the Fenno-Ugria general assembly, as well as at the Pärnu Literature Festival in Koidula Park on 16 August, and at the Fenno-Ugria stall at the Kadriorg Literary Street Festival on 13 September.
