Estonian MPs call for creation of UN special tribunal for Russian war crimes

Riigikogu 2011 (Wikipedia).

A total of 94 Estonian MPs submitted a draft petition to Riigikogu, the Estonian Parliament, to hold Russia accountable for its war crimes in Ukraine. The petition was submitted by Eerik-Niiles Kross of the Reform Party.

The petition supports for the creation of a special UN tribunal managed by the General Assembly and calls for the issue to become a priority for Estonia’s foreign policy.

It highlights that the crime is carried out by leaders of the state and without their prosecution it is “not possible to achieve a just and lasting peace both in Ukraine and in the whole of Europe,” the draft says.
