Fenno-Ugria’s latest yearbook focuses, among other things, on fascinating political documents: Hannele Valkeeniemi<\/strong>, Director of the Finnish Institute, provides an overview of Russian influence operations in Finland, drawing on a relevant report by the Finnish Prime Minister\u2019s Office titled \u201cPehme\u00e4sti pedattu mutta kova nukkua\u201d<\/a> (Softly made, yet hard to sleep on). Patrick O\u2019Rourke<\/strong> provides a summary of the \u201cTruth and Reconciliation Commission Report\u201d<\/a> on the status of the Saami in Finland. Barbi Pilvre<\/strong> presents an overview of the report commissioned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Fenno-Ugria on the situation of Finno-Ugric peoples in Russia for 2022\u20132024\/25<\/a>. Jaak Prozes<\/strong> discusses Finno-Ugric peoples in Russia in 2025.<\/p>

Ekaterina Kuznetsova<\/strong>, director of the Narva House of Ingria, presents an overview of Narva as the Finno-Ugric Capital of Culture in 2025. Janno Z\u00f5bin<\/strong> introduces the culture of American Finns in connection with Hancock, the 2026 Finno-Ugric Capital of Culture.<\/p>

Rogier Blokland<\/strong> reviews Patrick O\u2019Rourke\u2019s doctoral dissertation on the Livonian language, while Anna Kuznetsova<\/strong> provides an overview of Maria Fedina<\/strong>\u2019s doctoral dissertation on Komi urban culture, which was defended at the University of Helsinki. In addition, there are excerpts from ethnologist Edgar Saar<\/strong>\u2019s unpublished fieldwork diaries on the Khanty people, as well as Paul Ariste<\/strong>\u2019s notes\u2014previously available only in manuscript form\u2014from his research expeditions to the Votes.<\/p>

Also included are book reviews: among others, Aimar Ventsel<\/strong>\u2019s assessment of the book “Soomeugrilased eestlaste pilgu l\u00e4bi” (Finno-Ugrians Through the Eyes of Estonians), published in collaboration between Argo Publishing and Fenno-Ugria, as well as Maarja Vinkel<\/strong>\u2019s review of the ETV television series \u201cMeie h\u00f5imlased\u201d (Our Kin), produced with the participation of advisor Jaak Prozes, articles on anniversaries and jubilees, and event reviews by authors such as Orsolya Sild<\/strong>, Anti Lillak<\/strong>, Edina Cs\u00fcll\u00f6g<\/strong>, and others.<\/p>

The editor-in-chief of the yearbook is Taisto Raudalainen<\/strong>; the language editor is Kristi Kingo<\/strong>; the cover designer is Piret R\u00e4ni<\/strong>; and the layout is by Siiri Timmerman<\/strong>. The publication of the yearbook has been supported by the Kindred Peoples’ Programme, the Cultural Endowment of Estonia, and the Ministry of Culture of Estonia.<\/p>

Availability<\/h3>

The book will be presented, and authors and contributors will receive their author\u2019s copies on Wednesday, 3 June, starting at 6:00 pm at the Fenno-Ugria office in Tallinn following the Fenno-Ugria annual meeting. The yearbook will also be on sale at the P\u00e4rnu Literature Festival in Koidula Park on 15 August and at the Fenno-Ugria booth at the Kadriorg Literature Street Festival on 12 September.<\/p>

\u201cSoome-ugri s\u00f5lmed 2025\u201d will soon be available at the Apollo bookstore, where previous yearbooks are also on sale.<\/p>
