This year’s Kindred Peoples’ Days, with the slogan “Ida-Viru \u2013 our Ingria,” are ongoing. Since Narva is the cultural capital of the Finno-Ugric peoples<\/a>, our focus is on Narva, where many exciting events organized by Fenno-Ugria and our partners take place from 16 to 18 October<\/a>.<\/p>

In the beginning of this month on 4-5 October, the Latvian Society organized Finno-Ugric Days in Riga and Aina\u017ei, which were attended by Fenno-Ugria board member and linguist T\u00f5nu Seilenthal<\/strong>, the Ruhnu Saare Lood ja Laulud ensemble led by Kairi Leivo<\/strong>, and Mari artist Aleksei Aleksejev<\/strong>.<\/p>

On Thursday 9 October, Fenno-Ugria Director Barbi Pilvre<\/strong> and Advisor Jaak Prozes<\/strong> spoke with Juku-Kalle Raid on “Juku Radio” of Radio Kuku<\/a> about the upcoming Kindred Peoples’ Days, as well as the current status and future prospects of the Finno-Ugric movement. The broadcast is available for replay and provides a good overview of the most important aspects of Kindred Peoples’ Days.<\/p>

On Friday 10 October, the Karlova Theatre in Tartu hosted a Kindred Peoples’ Days community evening and traditional music concert<\/a>. Madis Arukask<\/strong> discussed the book “About Us Veps and More”<\/a> with its author, Alevtina Gongi\u0161tiga<\/strong>. Performers were Mari Kum\u00f5l (Mari), V\u00e4ike Hellero (Estonian), Yumshan Gur (Udmurt), and K\u00e4nnu Peal K\u00e4bi (Finno-Ugric).<\/p>

In addition to Fenno-Ugria, our member organisations and other institutions organise events for the Kindred Peoples’ Days.
