{"id":65337,"date":"2023-09-24T13:43:26","date_gmt":"2023-09-24T10:43:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fennougria.ee\/?p=65337"},"modified":"2023-09-24T13:44:04","modified_gmt":"2023-09-24T10:44:04","slug":"snapshots-from-the-decades-of-deportation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fennougria.ee\/en\/snapshots-from-the-decades-of-deportation\/","title":{"rendered":"Snapshots from the decades of deportation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At the opening, <strong>Anni Reuter<\/strong> talked about her latest popular science publication, <strong>Inkeri Sava<\/strong> opened up the problem of remembering, and singer and songwriter <strong>Eila P\u00f6ll\u00e4nen<\/strong> from Sweden performed songs based on the photographs on display.<\/p><p>The photo exhibition focuses on the mass repression of the Ingrian Roma in the Stalin-era Soviet Union. Some of the photos come from the family albums of the interviewees and from the archives of the NGO Nouse Inkeri, while others are from Anni Reuter&#8217;s (J\u00e4\u00e4skel\u00e4inen) recent monograph &#8216;Suomalaiset Stalinin puhdistuksissa&#8217; (&#8216;Finns in Stalin&#8217;s repression&#8217;, SKS 2023). Most of the illustrative material in this work, in turn, comes from the J\u00e4\u00e4skel\u00e4inen family archives.<\/p><p>The authors&#8217; perspective is both scholarly and subjective, as both of their close relatives have been sent to prison camps or deported.
