Piret R\u00e4ni collected creation myths of Finno-Ugric cultures and added other traditions from the era of a shamanistic worldview. She has attempted to find the oldest and most unifying elements of Finno-Ugric cultures. Birds and animals are a very good theme for this search for common ground, as they have been our companions in this climate zone for thousands of years.<\/p>

The Finno-Ugric Calendar 2025<\/a> and the exhibition based on it were co-created by Madis Arukask, Mush Nadii, Arvo Valton, Aivar Ruukel, Mona Johanne Hoel, Edina Cs\u00fcll\u00f6g, and Anti Lillak. The texts are translated by Patrick O’Rourke.<\/p>

In compiling the texts and images, Piret R\u00e4ni used Lennart Meri’s films Veelinnurahvas<\/em> (“The Waterfowl People”), Linnutee tuuled<\/em> (“Winds of the Milky Way”), Kaleva h\u00e4\u00e4led<\/em> (“Voices of Kaleva”), Toorumi pojad<\/em> (“Sons of Toorum”), Marju K\u00f5ivupuu’s Eesti m\u00fctoloogia algajale<\/em> (“Estonian Mythology for Beginners”), M. J. Eisen’s Eesti m\u00fctoloogia<\/em> (“Estonian Mythology”), Art Leete’s Soome-ugri saladused<\/em> (“Finno-Ugric Secrets”), Antti Lahelma’s A Touch of Red<\/em>; Madis Arukask’s, Mall Hiiem\u00e4e’s and many others’s materials collected from the website folklore.ee<\/a>, the magazine M\u00e4etagused<\/em>, www.spiritboat.ca<\/a>,\u00a0taivaannaula.org<\/a>, articles by Ahto Kaasik from the website maavald.ee<\/a>, books published by the Estonian Literary Museum, etc. <\/p>
